Makeover Monday- Late Summer Living Room Updates

Happy Monday!  Hoping everyone had a wonderful weekend…thanks for stopping by the cottage today! 

I have a few updates to our Living/Dining/Entry Areas to share with you all today.  

(For all of my longtime friends, you probably know that things are ALWAYS changing around here, you see I struggle with a little-known disease called "Decorating ADHD"- I have a very short attention span for decor and always feel the need to "change things up"!)

Here's what my Living Room looked like before I started messing with everything…

As much as I loved it…the aqua blue and the large white heron art over the sofa are beautiful…I felt trapped!

Locked into an aqua color scheme…and as much as I love aqua, I like to have rooms a little more neutral so I can add "pops" of accent color…so here's what I did…

 

First, I did a DIY Distressed Plank Wood Top to my coffee table for a more rustic look… you can read that DIY HERE

 

Next, I relocated the large white heron art and replaced them with a large creamy white framed mirror and a set of 4 seashell shadowboxes- btw- I made these too and will hopefully share the DIY with you all someday soon!

Doing this keeps my background more "neutral" and so now I can pop any color accents in here that I want!

Then, I replaced the aqua pillows for two large khaki pillows and added a cute "Life is Good at the Beach" pillow I found at Homegoods for a fun touch.

I kept my two ladderback accent chairs and table the same…no changes here.

I am loving my new shadowboxes, they turned out great!

I like to think they are "classy coastal"- did you know Pottery Barn sells similar ones for QUITE a bit more than they cost me to make…

Anyways, we are loving the updated room…in case you didn't notice I threw a large white sheet over my creamy off-white sofa, I think it looks better in white,  so I am hoping to replace or slipcover the sofa someday soon.
