Makeover Monday: Guest Bedroom Updates
OK, so it's been a while since I have featured our Guest Bedroom, so I thought I would share with you all some updates in there.
First, I must say, I used one of my all-time favorite color schemes- blue and white- imagine that!? Blue is such a calming, tranquil color choice for bedrooms and perfect for this tiny upstairs room.
In the spirit of "use what you have" decorating, I reused the Master Bedroom Draperies from our old house in here, and even remade one set of panels into a lovely gathered dust skirt!
I also had a beautiful monogrammed king sham from Restoration Hardware that matched, so that worked well too!
Not too long ago, I located a vintage arched wood headboard at my favorite thrift shop and painted it for a pretty new look…
I am so loving how it turned out, but now I needed new artwork to hang above it…so I went to one of my favorite sources for great coastal artwork, 1001 Treasures - a fabulous Etsy shop, full of great natural history prints and art.
I selected 3 of their beautiful blue coral art prints-(come back tomorrow to find out more!!) Aren't they perfect?
**DESIGN TIP: When working with an arched headboard I always like to hang a set of three prints in an arched arrangement to compliment the lines of the headboard.
On to the rest of the room…the bedside table is a simple skirted table with a glass top, I accented it with a pitcher of pale blue hydrangeas and a crystal bowl of seashells.
Since this is a TINY room, the only other piece of furniture is an antique dressing table that belonged to my husband's grandparents- it too, has been painted white- it's accented by three white plates hanging above the mirror for a simple but charming look, and a favorite painting by my favorite artist, Cory Wright sits on the dresser for all to enjoy!
I love to have a small basket of toiletries and goodies for our guests, and this one is adorned with a starfish and raffia. Sometimes it's the small touches in a room that are the most gracious and appreciated!
A big stack of fresh, fluffy white towels is a must as well! I am using a favorite old embroidered seashell hand towel for a little interest.
I love our cozy little upstairs guest bedroom…I have even been known to take refuge here some nights when the hubby has a bad night of snoring!! Not a bad place to hide out, right?
