January in the Family Room
So glad you stopped by today! I hope everyone’s new year is off to a great start! Today I’m sharing some photos of our family room…
I love to decorate with pops of seasonal colors and accessories throughout the year, but after the fun and fuss of Christmas, I usually keep the cottage decor more clean and minimal and neutral.
it always feels refreshing and peaceful to just go back to the basics each January… when decorating with neutrals, I like to use plenty of texture and fresh greenery to keep it from looking boring.
It’s been a rather cold winter this year for us Floridians, so we have really enjoyed using all our cozy blankets and furry pillows…I love to decorate with warm wintery whites and lots of soft textures. I used a mix of soft neutral pillows on the sofas…linen, fur, and a large nubby woven boho pillow.
I also like to mix neutrals like whites, khakis and greys- so a pretty grey woven throw blanket mixes well with all the soft pillows.
There’s nothing like a great cup of hot tea on a cold afternoon…I usually prefer iced tea the rest of the year, but this month, hot tea hits the spot!
New to the cottage this month are the two large white lanterns on the coffee table- I love decorating with candles and these lanterns will be so versatile and fun to decorate with, but right now, they look perfect on our coffee table.
Another update for January is we finally finished our stairs- we ripped up the carpet we had there and replaced it with natural seagrass We have had seagrass on our stairs before in two previous houses and really liked it. First of all, I love the look of natural seagrass- the texture is great! I also love that it will never show dirt or stains like our old plush carpet. Another bonus is that it is not slippery or loud like wood steps would be…so we are very pleased!
Thanks so much for stopping by today- I hope you all are staying warm and cozy wherever you are!
