How to Create a Small Holiday Floral Arrangement
I love an excuse to make a pretty floral arrangement- and Christmas is a GREAT excuse! (Who am I kidding- I don’t need an excuse…I make them all the time!!) The trick is: make small arrangements and use inexpensive, everyday grocery store flowers. Here’s what I do:
- Start with a small glass vase or container- I like to use vases no more than 6″ tall.
2. Add 2 big bushy white hydrangeas (these cost me approx. $4) cut the stems so the bottoms of the flowers are barely taller than the vase. The hydrangeas will give your arrangement a very lush, full look.
3. Add your “accent” color flowers. Any type will work, I selected red roses for the holiday season, but any pretty color would work based on the season or your decor…6 of these red roses were $4.
4. Add a few “filler” flowers- some smaller green and white blooms (dirty little secret: the ones pictured here are faux, but you can use real). These will make your arrangement look fuller and more professional.
Once you have made your small arrangement you can put it ANYWHERE! I have one on my office desk…
or add one to a pretty tray…
or on a small end table…
I made a few of these small arrangements in mason jars and added them to my centerpiece on our dining table…
They are perfect for dining tables because they are low enough for conversation, but still provide a lot of “bang for the buck” =) I will share more details and photos on this beautiful holiday table setting soon!
Thanks for joining me today…I hope you are making time to enjoy this wonderful time of year.
