How to Create a Luxurious Layered Bed -

Today I want to share with you all my 5 easy steps to creating a luxurious layered bed. I really believe that the key to a beautiful bedroom is creating a beautiful bed (it’s truly the largest thing in the room) and the trick to a beautiful bed is in the layering! Here’s what I like to do:

Step 1: White Sheets and Pillowcases

(LOL-This might be the most boring photo I have ever posted on my blog!)

Its no secret I love white for the bedroom- white sheets are a very practical choice because I always wash them in hot water with bleach and I know they are really clean- bonus is that all my bath towels are white as well, so on wash day, they can all go in together! We use three standard size sleeping pillows- perfect for a king bed.

Step 2: White Quilt/Coverlet, Euro Shams and Dust Skirt

I love to start with a simple white backdrop for more colorful bedding, and a beautiful white bed always reminds me of an elegant high-end five-star resort hotel room. Three white euro pillows are a great starting point for any bed, they add height and comfort to any bed. I also like using a lightweight quilt or coverlet as the “base” for those warmer nights you don’t need a heavy duvet.

Step 3: Add a Duvet, Cover and Shams

This is where the fun begins…you can find beautiful duvet cover and sham sets in so many stores these days, select one that you love and start there. I like to fold the duvet at the foot of the bed to reveal the white coverlet and give the bed that luxurious layered look. For this bed, I am using a simple solid neutral duvet and pillows.

Step 4: Accent Throw Pillows

Have even more fun layering your bed with a few fun accent pillows- you can add more color, texture, and pattern here. For this bed, I used two big velvet navy pillows and a smaller neutral starfish pillow- I also LOVE a pretty monogrammed accent pillow for the bed as well!

Step 5: Gorgeous Accent Throw Blanket

For that last layer and really “high end” look, add a luxurious throw blanket- for this bed, I added a chunky woven throw for a touch of fall, but cashmere, or wool or a fabulous Turkish tassel throw would also be lovely!
