5 Things You Can Do Right Now to Make Holiday Decorating Easier Next Year!
With the holidays drawing to a close, I don’t know about you but I am ready to clear out all the seasonal decor and excess clutter and have a fresh start to the new year! Before you start your “holiday un-decorating” and throw everything into storage bins, I want to share with you five simple things you can do right now to help make next year’s holiday decorating easier!
1. Photograph your holiday decor-
Before packing everything up, take a few photos of the various areas of your home so you can remember what you liked and want to repeat for next year!
2. Make Notes-
While you are taking your photos, make a few notes of what you liked and maybe things you want to add or “tweak” for next year! (Pro Tip: Now is a GREAT time to shop for next year’s holiday decor- while everything is on sale!)
3. Discard unwanted/broken holiday decor-
As you start packing things up, maybe reconsider any items you did not use this year- do you see yourself using these next year? If not, now is a great time to donate or dispose of old, dated holiday decor. Also, dispose of any items that may have been broken or damaged.
4. Store like items together-
When packing things up, group like items together in storage bins for easier decorating. Group all your tree decor in one tote- ornaments, lights, tree skirt, etc.. Have another tote for all your front porch items, maybe keep all your garlands and greenery in another tote.
5. Label Everything!-
In addition to labeling my bins based on what is inside, I also label individual items so I know exactly where they go for next year- this takes the guesswork out of figuring out where everything goes and will help next year’s decorating process go smoothly.
I hope these tips help you as you are “un-decorating” for the holidays! Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of the week!
